As you could guess, I am a creative person. I love to write, I love to take pictures and I love to learn new skills to hone my creative side. I take online classes in addition to attending college classes at Kean University. This week, I decided to try my hand at acrylic painting. You have probably seen this new fad of wine & painting. Places seem to be popping up everywhere and I get notifications of Groupons for painting nights constantly.
My friend and I went to Pinot’s Palette in Manalapan, NJ for our first class. We were shocked when we arrived to see palettes, canvas, paints and stools waiting for 50 or 60 students. Pinot’s welcomed us and had our spots personalized. Pinot’s is strictly BYOB, but they offer wine glasses, plates, napkins and utensils so that you can eat and drink while you are painting.
Pinot’s had three art directors walking around helping the students, while a fourth narrated the step-by-step instructions to the students. In between steps, Pinot’s played upbeat music that held your attention. At one time everyone in the room was singing “Shake it off,” along with Taylor Swift.
The art director painted step-by-step along with the students until the random paint on the canvas gradually became a painting that actually looked like the sample painting.
In case it still doesn’t ring a bell to you, it is a beach scene featuring waves, sand dunes, seagulls and sea grass.

I would definitely recommend Pinot’s Palette or a Wine & Paint night to anyone who would enjoy learning a new skill-while socializing and having a drink or two. And guys, you can join in, as there were at least eight men in the group who painted along with their gals.
So fun! I just posted a review on the 3 studios I have been to. Love wine & paint! Also love your blog, follow for follow?
